Community

We foster a culture of giving back wherever and whenever possible. Our People & Culture team meets regularly to review requests and make assessments on programs and initiatives that best align with our organizational values and culture.

We always encourage our team members to bring forward ideas, events or causes that they are passionate about, and feel will be a good fit for our organization. To recognize individual drive and initiative, the team member who brought the idea to the table becomes the key stakeholder and then dedicates the time needed – both inside and outside of work – to make it happen. They are also provided with the resources needed by the People & Culture team, to execute their idea.

Our Community Support

Since 2007, Woodtone has supported the Annual Fraser River Clean-up, an initiative that we began with the Fraser Riverkeeper. The event has grown to be one of the largest and most televised clean-up events in BC.

We support the Salvation Army and the Chilliwack Christmas Bureau annually by sponsoring families for Christmas hampers. In 2018, we sponsored 20 families with a total of 82 children. Woodtone also matches the monetary donations that are raised by staff.

We are annual sponsors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters bowling events. Not only is it a great opportunity to support a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people in the community, but it’s also the perfect time to bring our staff together for some team bonding with spouses and children.

We are also a proud sponsor of many local sports teams. Many of our staff members have children in sports or play sports themselves so this is close to home for many of us.

In the past, when an urgent need for assistance came up – such as the BC wildfires in 2017 and the tornados in the US and Canada in 2018 – Woodtone staff pulled together in true community fashion to raise funds and offer support.
